I can do this.
Today was good.
I woke up ready to go to school because everything for the whole week was planned.
During my prep I talked with a student who was having an off day instead of frantically making charts for the rest of the day.
During lunch I helped other 4th grade teachers instead of planning, and after school I planned math and guided reading for NEXT week.
Suddenly my life has purpose.
I know where we're going, even if it's only for this week.
I realized today there have been no fights in my room for over a week. At the beginning of the year I was happy when there were only 5.
Maybe...just maybe...we...together...can do this.

Discovered your blog the other day through Ms. Frizzle, a teacher blogger from NYC.
Looking forward to reading more about your adventures in the classroom!
Julie,
We should talk guided reading. This year I started using readinga-z.com and the website is fantastic. It has everything you need for guided reading and more. The lesson plans are great. They are saving me sooo much time on planning. TFA has a subscription so if you want the password to access all of the stuff let me know. Seriously, you have to check this out.
hey, so glad things are feeling easier for you. I greatly admire the strength and tenacity that you are showing so early in what is a tough - extremely tough - situation.
one of the saving graces for me in my first few years - even now - was knowing that a bad day didn't guarantee another bad day (unfortunately neither did a good day). and kids know - even when they don't want to know - which teachers are working for them.
keep up the good work! kolay gelsin, as we say in Turkish: may it come easily.
My name is Carolyn Boughton and I teach Special Education Students in AZ. I would love if you shared the readinga-z username and password with me. This is a great site and would benefit my students greatly. Please e-mail it to either cstahmer@hotmail.com or cboughton@littletonaz.org. Thank you!
